# Online care still needs a person to answer

Ask how the remote visit works before sharing details or paying a care fee.

## Say where you will be

For routine online care, a doctor generally needs a Minnesota license or state permission called telehealth registration, under rules checked November 3, 2026. Exceptions cover emergencies, care less often than monthly or for under ten patients yearly, and consultation where a Minnesota doctor keeps final control of diagnosis and care. That registration lets an out-of-state doctor provide care from a distance without a full Minnesota license, if the doctor meets the state’s conditions.

Share the place you will be sitting for the visit. Request the doctor’s name, then ask where to find their state permission.

### Ask how the exchange continues

Medical boards’ advice says a fixed form is not enough if it leaves the doctor short of the details needed to assess your care.

This is advice for doctors about good care, rather than a law on its own. The legal requirements come from the state’s rules.

Ask how you can add a detail or correct an answer. Ask how to reach a real person with your own question.

## Keep the medicine’s rules separate

Human growth hormone is itself a medicine; it is different from medicines meant to make your body release growth hormone. Minnesota law checked October 1, 2026 puts human growth hormone on its controlled-drug list.

A controlled drug has extra legal limits; for growth hormone, Minnesota generally requires a recorded exam in person before a valid prescription.

The rule can also accept an exam by another prescriber in the same practice, or by a prescriber involved in a referral.

That entry does not name sermorelin or ipamorelin, peptides meant to make the body release growth hormone. This entry alone does not settle their visit requirements; ask about the exact medicine’s rules.

## Ask about a change of setting

Medical boards advise arranging care in person when the needed exam or test cannot be done remotely.

Ask where that part of care would happen and who would arrange it.
