For a doctor or physician assistant

As checked October 1, 2026, Minnesota’s medical board offers a free licence lookup. It shows public decisions about rule violations. It also lists doctors outside Minnesota who have state permission to treat patients online.

Ask the service for enough detail to match the person you will see. A similar name leaves a question open.

For a nurse practitioner

Nurse practitioners have further nursing training in assessing illness and providing treatment.

Minnesota’s nursing board offers a way to check a nurse’s licence, as checked October 1, 2026.

Under Minnesota rules checked October 1, 2026, nurse practitioners can diagnose illness and prescribe medicine after an early period of working under an agreement with another qualified health professional.

Ask who will assess your health concern.

For the pharmacy

Minnesota’s pharmacy board has a separate free licence lookup for pharmacists and pharmacies, as checked October 1, 2026.

Look up the pharmacy supplying the prescription, even if its name differs from the care service’s name.

What the record can tell you

In a public licence lookup, check the licence’s current status and any board action over rule violations. A clear record does not rate the quality of someone’s care.

Ask the board about an unclear entry. Ask the person treating you about their experience with your health concern.
