What does peptide care actually mean?
A business may advertise “peptide therapy” without naming the medicine it means.
← The opening pageThe word describes a kind of building block
Insulin is a peptide: amino acids linked in a chain, using the same small units as proteins.
Ask for the full medicine name. Write the name beside the health problem being discussed.
Some names belong to reviewed medicines
FDA means Food and Drug Administration; this US agency weighs the evidence for a medicine and its stated use.
Ozempic and Wegovy contain semaglutide. For Ozempic, FDA-approved uses include treating type 2 diabetes; for Wegovy, they include losing weight and keeping it off. These uses were checked September 26, 2026.
Mounjaro and Zepbound contain tirzepatide. FDA has approved Mounjaro for uses including type 2 diabetes care, and Zepbound for uses including weight management. These approvals were checked September 26, 2026.
A pharmacy-made preparation is a different thing
In compounding, a pharmacy mixes or prepares a medicine for a patient instead of handing over a drug maker’s finished product.
FDA had not approved these compounded preparations as of the September 26, 2026 check, nor reviewed their safety, benefit or quality before sale.
A lab label is another pause point
FDA advises people to avoid unapproved weight-loss products sold for use in people with labels saying they are for research, as checked September 26, 2026.
Keep a care conversation focused on a named medicine, an assessment and a reason for treatment. A list of appealing goals leaves those questions open.
